Computing and Work Skills 4 Women

This course is run under the umberella of the Statement of Attainment in Work Opportunities for Women and is designed to improve the range and quality of women's participation in Vocation Education and Trainging. The part time nature of the course is ideal for women who are not able to commit themselves to
full-time patterns of study due to family commitments, work patterns or other reasons.

· increase student's levels of confidence, experience and skills so that they can enter or re-enter vocational training or the work force;
· introduce students to a broader range of choices in work and training;
· develop student's understanding of key issues relating to women, work and industry restructuring ; and
· increase student's career and educational planning abilities, with a focus on implementing change.
WOW courses may be designed to provide skills in one particular employment area, or as a broad-based program covering a spectrum of career options for women. The duration and study pattern of each WOW course will depend on the nature of the group and the particular modules offered. This is negotiated by the course coordinator with the students. The course structure allows a concentration on language, literacy and numeracy where needed.

Basic Computing and Internet


The is Basic Computing and the Internet COurse is designed to help beginners learn how to use the computer and the internet. The course aims to
  • Increase students understanding of computers and internet and increase their skills so they can more effectively use technology as a tool in further education or in the workplace or in community groups;

  • Increase students' levels of confidence and skills, so they can more successfully enter areas of vocational training or the workforce or take part in community organisations;

  • Introduce students to a broader range of choices in work and training and how to access them using the internet;

  • Develop students understanding of key issues relating to work and technology and community participation; and

  • Increase students' career and educational planning abilities, with a focus on developing a career or educational plan.
